Aaron and Sara : Downtown Durham North Carolina Wedding, September 4th, 2011

I love a big church wedding! There is nothing more amazing to me than being able to photograph a wedding that takes place in a house where many people have worshiped for many years. What made Sara and Aaron’s wedding special was that this church was the church where Sara grew up going as a child, and her parents were still members. It totally struck a cord with me. When you go the the First Presbyterian Church’s website, you’ll note that they state “Downtown by History and by Choice.”  It resonated with me, and was a recurring theme for Sara.

When we first met, she was adamant about supporting businesses and venues based out of Durham, NC.  She grew up here, and though they live in Kentucky now, I’ve always believed that home holds a special place, as it does for Sara, and her choice to get married in the Bull City with all of their family and friends.

If you’ve ever walked through downtown Durham, you’ll see it’s a city that on one side has tons of wonderful devleopment, and on the other, is struggling to recreate itself.  I’d like to think that one day in the very near future, one of those now empty store fronts will be home to Kate Peters Photography, and with your continued support, you can help support my dreams and plans, and Durham’s.

Enough about me… LOOK at these fantastic pictures from Sara and Aaron’s wedding!  I was so lucky to have had the privilege to photograph with the wonderful Renee Sprink and have my wonderful assistant Christin to help with the SNAPbooth (images to come in a later post!)  For now, please view some of my favorites while I put the finishing touches on Aaron and Sara’s proofing gallery!
